SUPER-HEAVYWEIGHT TOURNAMENT WILL THRILL & OFFER OPPORTUNITY

2015 Will see the first Duel 4-Man Tournament, and it promises to give the winner a massive boost to their fight careers. Duel 4 comes in under the Duel: Kumite class, and has struck a deal with the newly created, mega-cash, UK-promotion Superfight Series Championship, the brand behind the £20k tournament series. Duel Fight Sports is the regional qualification event for the Super-heavyweight division meaning that the winner of the Duel: Kumite event, will not only take away the cash prize, but also get to fight in London later in the year for 'double' the amount. This in turn, will then be repeated up until the amount hits a staggering £20,000 - the biggest cash prize in UK pro kickboxing.

Duel Light-heavyweight number 1, Mick Terrill, has already qualified for the -90kg SFS division, and will be taking on the best domestic talent with the winner walking away with £10,000.

CORDEIRO BACK WITH A BANG!

FLYWEIGHT sensation, Fred 'The Joker' Cordeiro, once again made an impression when he flew in from Lisbon, Portugal, to take on the upcoming Northumbrian, Connor Long, on DUEL 4, Saturday, March 21st.

The event was a defence of Cordeiro's DUEL Superfight title belt - the top honour within the DUEL Fight Sports promotion - having won the title on the previous DUEL event by stopping favourite Andy Hughes, from Manchester, with a spinning kick, and followed by a flying knee.

The bout opened up with a little feeling out process and some tidy exchanges by both fighters. Connor Long trying to take the fight to his shorter Portuguese opponent by using nice high kicks. Cordeiro choosing to counter quickly with very fast hands and kicks aimed to the body, however, not many getting through. It was a fairly close first round with the Champion weighing up the local challenger.

Second round begins with Long coming out looking to ascert himself throwing good kick and punch combinations. Cordeiro stands his ground and counters with small, fast punch combinations. Both fighters looking for the opening then suddenly a big right hand from Corfeiro to Long's chin and he is sent to the canvas. Referee Billy Saul immediately waves it off, and Cordeiro wins by 2nd Rd. KO, to retain his DUEL crown.

DUEL BOXING LEAGUE LAUNCHED - PRO?

After careful consideration, DUEL Fight Sports has launched a unique boxing division that will see fighters cross-over from their current style, to regular western boxing.

The first event of it's kind will be on the Never Back Down promotion, May 24th, and will see a number of hot prospects challenge for rankings positions within DUEL.

DUEL Fight Sports has a policy of sanctioning events through reputable organisations. In 2014, Duel has employed ISKA, EFK, and the WKL to provide regulatory services to events. Moving forward, as the company branches out further into championship Kickboxing, Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts, the decision has been taken to work closely with the newly formed English Boxing Council, a recognised licensing & regulatory body for Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai and MMA sports. As the organisation develops, the relationship between Duel and EBC will grow, and regular officiating teams will be present for all Duel sanctioned events.

More information will be published as it comes in.

Fisher wins by spin kick

In what could be seen as one of the shocks of the evening, Sunderland MMA fighter, Andrew Fisher, secured a great win over current Duel Middleweight champion Brian Jack Taylor, in a non-title bout over 3x3's.

After a brief exchange of low kicks, Fisher was always on the front foot shifting striking from head to low, then low to high, and then ended the fight in the first round with a spectacular spinning back kick, breaking Taylor's rib in the process.

Official result: KO, body kick, 1:38 of Rd.1.

Late stand-in Rush dominates in two

With the unfortunate loss of headline fighter, and Duel heavyweight champion, Jon 'The One' Mills, a last minute hurry around to find a replacement fighter was sought. Up stepped former MMA fighter, the big-hitting Ian Rush to face challenger Athos Konstandi of Cyprus.

Konstandi, coming off a very close points loss in a veterans World kickboxing title bout, came out looking to impose himself with heavy punches and low kicks. However, Rush, who doesn't know how to go backwards, held his ground, absorbing all that Konstandi threw, them quickly established himself as a threat. Landing some solid punches to Konstandi and dropping him twice in the first, it was one-way traffic. Road 2 opened up the same wasy as the first round ended. Rush landing some solid head shots and dropped Konstandi again forcing the corner team to thrown in the towel at 0:48 sec of Rd.2.

The vistory now sees Ian Rush as the Duel Interim Heavyweight K-1 champion in the absence of Jon Mills. Once Mills returns the two fighters will meet up to declare the Duel Heavyweight Champion proper.

Terrill takes WKL World Title

Portuguese excites fans and takes crown

Duel 3 was held on November 8th and seen the crowning of another two K-1 style champions, this time in the from of a Heavyweight Interim title, and International Super Fight title.

The latter saw Portuguese rising star, Fred 'The Joker' Cordeiro, fly in to take on British No.2 Andy Hughes of Spartan Whitworth.

After a very brief feeling out period with both fighters throwing low kicks, Cordeiro stepped up the pace and landed a lightening spinning kick that connected heal-to-jaw that dropped Hughes for an 8-count. Almost immediately, Coredeiro seen tha gap and landed a precision jumping knee to the head that dropped Hughes instantly. The ref waved it off at 1:54 of Rd.1, and Cordeiro was crowned Duel Super Fight Champion.

From the moment the fight started Terrill was on the front foot and put on what can only be described as a striking clinic as he attacked all body parts. After dropping Romanowski twice in quick succession he went in for the kill and a heavy knee followed by a flush headkick dropped Romanowski yet again and he took home a KO win and was crowned the new WKL Light-Heavyweight World Title.

Duel Fight Sports 2 was a great event and sets the promotion for their next event at the NE6 Suite on 8th November when they co-promote a night of K1 and MMA action with Budo FC.

DUEL HEADLINE DUO CLAIM VICTORIES IN ROMANIA.

JUNE 6, 2014

UK Fighters Jamie Bates and Mick Terrill both secured excellent victories in their debuts on the Romania super-promotion SuperKombat. Both fighters, who we are proud to say are also contracted to Duel Fight Sports as headline fighters, took convincing wins against hometown favourites. The night was stolen by Annfield Plain's Jamie Bates, who beaten two strong opponents - Flavious Boicuc and Miljan Vidovic - to take the SuperKombat 4-man tournament winner's spot. Mick Terrill, of North Shields, Tyneside, marked his debut with a dominant points win over Danut Hurduc in a crowd-pleasing performance which was also fight of the night.

Well done to both fighters, and we look forward to seeing both return on both SK and Duel fight cards.

You can see Mick Terrill take on the hard-hitting Chris Romanowski, holder of the lesser-known WIMAAO European pro-am kickboxing title, on the Duel 2 headline bout, Newcastle, August 24th.
